Wildflowers

I’ve always loved wildflowers. Something about their raw natural beauty has always resonated with me. This piece was inspired by yellow daisies I spotted dancing in the wind on the side of the road. I love that they spring up in the most unlikely places and cover my front garden with colour in the springtime.

Created in coloured pencil, the artwork took 2 years to complete, on and off between other pieces. The piece grew organically, with many critters and details added throughout.

The concept behind the piece was to magnify natures beauty and resilience, while provoking a sense of responsibility for the things we leave on the earth. To think about our environmental impact and the footprint we leave behind.

The artwork ‘Nurture of Nature’ creates a confrontation between nature and artefact, exposing environmental and ecological issues. The overgrown watering-can is a symbol of nurture in a hope to provoke change and care for our planet.
